Since first getting noticed online in 2007, Justin Bieber has made quite an impression with fans of all ages. His music is flying off of the charts across the internet and in stores, and he has become a huge pop, R&B and soul star at the young age of 16. This talented young star shows no signs of slowing down, which is apparent by his increasingly growing fan base and his sold out concert tours.
Justin Bieber was born March 1, 1994 in Strafford, Ontario Canada. His mother was just 18 years old when he was born. Justin does have contact with his father, but his mother supported him as a single parent by working multiple low wage jobs. As a young boy, Justin always had a love for music. He taught himself to play the drums, trumpet, piano and guitar and loved to sing. Justin particularly had a love for R&B tunes and loved to sing R&B songs.
When Justin was twelve years old, he entered a local singing contest in his hometown of Stratford. He sung a popular R&B tune called “So Sick” by R&B artist NeYo. Justin placed second in this contest. His mother posted the video of Justin’s performance in this competition on YouTube. She continued to post additional videos of Justin singing a variety of R&B songs by various artists of this genre on her YouTube channel. The video posts were initially for family and friends to see, but the whole world started to take notice. The popularity of his YouTube channel began to grow as folks tuned in to hear Justin sing and to see him play his instruments.
A variety of musicians and producers started to notice Justin. However, it was Scooter Braun, executive of So So Def records in Atlanta, Georgia who tracked Bieber down. He contacted his mother who was initially reluctant to have Justin get into the business as a full-time artist. She eventually decided to travel to Atlanta and allow her son a shot at stardom. Justin auditioned for a variety of music producers and artists while in Atlanta. He caught the eye of both Justin Timberlake and Usher Raymond and ultimately signed with Usher Raymond’s music label. Justin and his mother moved to Atlanta Georgia which is where they now reside. Since that time in 2007, Justin’s music career has literally exploded.
He officially signed his record deal in October 2008. His first single “One Time” was released while his first album was still being recorded. “One Time” reached number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts in the fall of 2009. The album “My World” was released in November 2009 on iTunes, and was an instant success. Bieber became an international sensation almost instantly and “My World” was certified platinum in Canada and in the United States.
His biggest single yet was “Baby” featuring Rap Artist Ludacris. “Baby” is the first single on the second half of Justin’s album and was released in January 2010. Justin has made several television appearances on shows including Good Morning America, BET’s 106&Park, Ellen DeGeneres, The Today Show and True Jackson VP.
Justin continues to collaborate with major music artists as he continues to make his mark in this business.
Justin Bieber is a natural talent and a true artist. He is likely to be a strong force in the music world for many years. He is just getting started, and is well on his way to music superstardom.
